HO CHI MINH CITY STARTS THE THU THIEM 4 BRIDGE PROJECT
Thu Thiem 4 Bridge connecting District 2 and District 7. With an investment of about 5,200 billions VND (about 225 millions USD), the project is expected to help quickly develop Thu Thiem New Urban Area.
The project starts from the front of intersection of Tan Thuan 2 Bridge and Nguyen Van Linh street. The bridge across Tan Thuan port area, cross the Saigon River, then connect to Thu Thiem Urban Area at the North-South axis intersection (Nguyen Co Thach St.) and the R4 line.

According to the design task recently approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, the bridge must have an iconic and unique architecture, creating a highlight for districts 2 and 7. The Department of Planning – Architecture of the City is assigned to chair the organization. recruitment examinations as a basis for project implementation.
Thu Thiem 4 Bridge is expected to contribute to reducing traffic congestion from the South Saigon area to the center, while helping the Thu Thiem New Urban Area develop quickly, contributing to the city’s socio-economic development.
As planned, there will be 5 bridges and a tunnel linking other areas of the city with Thu Thiem Urban Area (District 2). Currently, Thu Thiem 1 Bridge and Saigon River Tunnel crossing the Saigon River (connecting District 1 and District 2) have been put into use. At the beginning of 2015, Thu Thiem 2 Bridge with a total capital of nearly 3,100 billions VND (about 135 millions USD) was started but due to the ground of District 1, so far the project has not been completed.
