With a resolution on the arrangement of administrative units at district and commune levels and the establishment of Thu Duc city in Ho Chi Minh City that was passed by the National Assembly Standing Committee on the afternoon of December 9, Thu Duc City was officially established. established with a natural area of 211.56 km2 and population size of 1,013,795 people.
In the approved Resolution, Thu Duc City was established on the basis of importing all 49.79 km2 of natural area, 171,311 people of District 2; all 113.97 km2 of natural area, 310,107 people of District 9 and a total of 47.80 km2 of natural area, 532,377 people of Thu Duc district.
After its establishment, Thu Duc city has 211.56 km2 of natural area and population size of 1,013,795 people. Thu Duc City, after its establishment, borders District 1, District 4, District 7, District 12, Binh Thanh District; Dong Nai province and Binh Duong province.
Along with the establishment, the communal administrative units of Thu Duc city were reorganized, thereby importing the entire 1.74 km2 of natural area, 124 people of An Khanh ward into Thu Thiem ward. Once imported, Thu Thiem ward has 3.25 km2 of natural area and population size of 428 people. Thu Thiem ward borders An Khanh ward, An Loi Dong ward; District 1, District 4 and Binh Thanh District.
After its establishment, Thu Duc city has 211.56 km2 of natural area and population size of 1,013,795 people.
The resolution also allows the establishment of An Khanh ward on the basis of importing all 2.03 km2 of the natural area, 4,333 people of Binh Khanh ward and the entire 1.89 km2 of natural area, 18,821 people of Binh An ward.
After its establishment, An Khanh ward has 3.92 km2 of natural area and population size of 23,154 people, bordering An Loi Dong, An Phu, Binh Trung Tay, Thao Dien, Thanh My Loi, and Thu Thiem wards; District 7 and Binh Thanh District.
With the above arrangements, Thu Duc City will have 34 wards: An Khanh, An Loi Dong, An Phu, Binh Chieu, Binh Tho, Binh Trung Dong, Binh Trung Tay, Cat Lai, Hiep Binh Chanh, Hiep Binh Phuoc. Hiep Phu, Linh Chieu, Linh Dong, Linh Tay, Linh Trung, Linh Xuan, Long Binh, Long Phuoc, Long Thanh My, Long Truong, Phu Huu, Phuoc Binh, Phuoc Long A, Phuoc Long B, Tam Binh, Tam Phu, Tang Nhon Phu A, Tang Nhon Phu B, Tan Phu, Thao Dien, Thanh My Loi, Thu Thiem, Truong Thanh, Truong Tho.
Along with the above content, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly decided to dissolve the People’s Court, the People’s Procuracy of District 2, District 9 and Thu Duc District to establish the People’s Court, City People’s Procuracy.
