TRAFFIC PROJECTS ARE EXPECTED IN 2019

Many key traffic projects will continue to be implemented and completed in 2019, promising to bring a new look to the transport sector in Ho Chi Minh City.

“In 2019, we will focus on building a number of key intersections, speeding up the progress of projects to close the Ring Road 2 and projects of the gateway route to quickly solve the problem of congestion and traffic accidents”. Talking with Ho Chi Minh City Law, Mr. Vo Khanh Hung, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transportation, said above.

Constructing of An Suong intersection urgently

Regarding projects that are expected to be completed in 2019, Mr. Vu Xuan Nguyen, Head of Construction Management Department, City Department of Transport, said that these are projects including: Completing An Suong intersection, My Thuy intersection. , Nguyen Kiem-Nguyen Thai Son overpass, releasing Nguyen Huu Tho route, expanding Kenh Te bridge, Y Letter bridge, etc.

“Until now, programs and plans are still under construction but it is possible that these projects will be completed or being implemented in 2019 to reduce congestion for the City” – Mr. Nguyen said.

In particular, it is worth noting that the completion of An Suong intersection. According to Mr. Nguyen, in March 2016, N1 tunnel branch was completed and put into use (toward Truong Chinh street to QL22). “Currently at branch N2 (towards QL22 to Truong Chinh) is rushing construction, however, there are still problems. We are trying to solve the ground issue to soon complete this important intersection ”- Mr. Nguyen said.

Completing My Thuy intersection

The next expected project in 2019 is the My Thuy intersection. This is the intersection of the two main roads of Ho Chi Minh City, including Dong Van Cong – Nguyen Thi Dinh road going into Cat Lai port with a volume of goods transporting up to 20,000 times per day.

The construction of My Thuy intersection phase 1 includes: Ky Ha 3 bridge, underpass, overpass, right – left bank of My Thuy canal. Total investment in this period is 838 billion VND. Phase 2 project includes the construction of the second overpass bridge of 316 m on Ring Road 2 with four lanes. Build a left turnover bridge from Cat Lai to Phu My bridge with a length of 725 meters with two lanes. Construction of Ky Ha 4 bridge is 75 m long on the branch, right from Phu My bridge to Cat Lai with four lanes.

“Phase 2 has a total investment of VND 1,150 billion which is expected to be implemented in early 2019 to complete of our TP 2. This year, we will continue to complete this key intersection ”- Mr. Nguyen affirmed.

Completing the Nguyen Kiem – Nguyen Thai Son overpass

In addition to the two projects of An Suong and My Thuy intersection, the project of Nguyen Kiem-Nguyen Thai Son overpass to solve the urgent situation of traffic congestion in the area of ​​Tan Son Nhat airport gate is also one of the expectations of Traffic industry in 2019.

According to the Urban Traffic Management Area No. 3 of the Department of Transportation of the City (the project implementation unit), after a pause, the Nguyen Kiem-Nguyen Thai Son overpass bridge started again on October 20, 2016 has now reached 30% by bulk. It is expected that this branch will be completed in January 2016.

Expectation of Nguyen Huu Tho-Nguyen Van Linh three-floor intersection

“In 2019, we will complete the expansion of Kenh Te bridge. We are currently working urgently because this area has very serious traffic jams, which makes citizen disturbed. I sympathize with them because the way back to my house often goes across this bridge and I am also often holed up here ”- Nguyen said.

According to Mr. Nguyen, along with the expansion of Kenh Te bridge, the Department of Transportation also plans to deploy Nguyen Huu Tho – Nguyen Van Linh three-level intersection to create a convenient connection for the area. “The department is still working and trying to start the project in 2019. Currently, complex infrastructure relocation in this intersection area has been carried out” – Mr. Nguyen added.

There will be a new Binh Tien road bridge

“In 2019, we can expect more and more Binh Tien road and bridge project but how will it be implemented specifically, the parties are still working and communicating with the press later” – Mr. Ngo Hai Duong, Manager of Management Department and Exploiting road transport infrastructure City Department of Transport, revealed.

According to Mr. Duong, this is a very important transport infrastructure project of District 6 and District 8 as well as in the Southwest area of ​​Ho Chi Minh City. Accordingly, the Binh Tien bridge construction project is carried out in two sections. Section 1: Building Binh Tien road and bridge from Pham Van Chi street (district 6) to Ta Quang Buu road (district 8) with a length of about 1,413 m (including Binh Tien bridge and two bridge branches) with a total capital of about 2,604 billion VND.

Section 2: From Ta Quang Buu Street (District 8) to Nguyen Van Linh Street (Binh Chanh District) with a length of nearly 1,805 m with a budget of about 903 billion VND. At present, the City People’s Committee has assigned People’s Committees of District 6, District 8 and Binh Chanh District to make compensation and site clearance for the project.

Expanding the gateway to Northeast, Northwest, Airport

Regarding key gateway projects of the city, Mr. Le Quoc Binh, General Director of Ho Chi Minh City Infrastructure and Investment Joint Stock Company (CII), informed: In 2019, the project to expand the Northeast gateway will be able to restart after 16 years of “immobilization”. At the same time, the North West gateway expansion project will also be implemented ”.

Regarding the Northwest gateway project, Mr. Pham Ngoc Dung, Director of Urban Traffic Management Area No. 3, Department of Transport, said: “At the beginning of the first quarter of 2019, the provincial road 9 from Le Van Khuong road to the road. To Ky (Hoc Mon district), with a length of 5.2 km, is only 7-8 m wide and will be expanded to 30 m ”. At the same time, the provincial road 8, which goes to Cu Chi district, can also be started at the end of 2019.

In addition to the two important transport gateways mentioned above, HCMC also decided to expand Tan Son Nhat airport, aiming to rescue the southern air gateway from congestion.

Many projects have been completed in 2018

In 2018, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transportation has completed and put into use 13 projects / work items such as: the bridge underpass of My Thuy intersection; branch N1 An Suong intersection; underpass National University traffic junction; bridge over Diamond Island; upgrade Le Duc Tho street; building D1 road (connecting Saigon University with Nguyen Van Linh street and Him Lam residential area); building Rach Lang bridge (BinhThanh district).

– Started construction of eight projects: Constructing Thu Thiem 2 bridge; improving the slope of Pham Van Chi bridge; expand and upgrade To Ky street; upgrade and expand road No. 12 (section from NH1 to Nghia Trang port), Thu Duc district; building Long Kieng bridge; expanding Do Xuan Hop Street, District 9 …

– Upgraded and expanded Chu Y Bridge, Kenh Te Bridge, Nguyen Tri Phuong Bridge …In order to synchronize transport infrastructure, Department of Transport said that: It is necessary to speed up the construction of underground parking in the city center. At the same time, identify locations for investment in construction of central car parks to call for socialization. At the same time, to develop open mechanisms and policies to attract the participation of people and businesses to invest in car parks. In addition, coordinate with the Ministry of Transport to quickly deploy the project of Ben Luc-Long Thanh highway, Highway 50, build a part of Ring Road 3 and Ring Road 4 before 2020.
